  • social media platforms;
  • email marketing providers;
  • analytics and measurement providers;
  • payment processors;
  • merchandise and fulfilment partners;
  • advertising and sponsorship partners;
  • referral partners; and
  • publicly available sources.

We will handle third-party information in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

Uploaded Files — Guest Photographs and Media Kits

The guest application permits applicants to upload a photograph and a media kit. These files may contain information about an identifiable person, professional history, contact details, affiliations, or information about third parties.

A photograph is not automatically sensitive personal information in every jurisdiction. However, an image may become sensitive or specially protected if it reveals or is used to infer characteristics protected by applicable law, including biometric information, health information, religious beliefs, racial or ethnic origin, or other protected characteristics.

We do not ask guest applicants to provide sensitive personal information. Applicants should not upload sensitive information unless it is necessary for the application and they are authorized to provide it.

4.1 Lawful basis and additional care

Depending on the circumstances, we may process uploaded files on the basis of:

  • your consent;
  • taking steps at your request before entering into a potential guest or business relationship;
  • our legitimate interests in evaluating and producing podcast content;
  • compliance with a legal obligation; or
  • another lawful basis recognized by applicable law.

We will limit access to applications and uploaded files to personnel and service providers who need the information for guest evaluation, production, communications, security, or legal compliance.

We will not publish a guest photograph, biography, media kit, voice, likeness, or other identifying information merely because it was submitted with an application. Publication or recording will require appropriate permission, release, or other lawful authorization.

4.2 Third-party information

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that they have permission to submit any information, photograph, media kit, biography, or other material concerning another person. By uploading material, the applicant represents that:

  • the applicant has the right to provide it;
  • the submission does not knowingly violate another person’s privacy or publicity rights;
  • the submission does not contain confidential information that the applicant is not authorized to disclose; and
  • the applicant will notify LAWLI if any submitted information must be withdrawn or corrected.

4.3 Retention of unsuccessful applications

Unless a longer period is required by law or reasonably necessary to resolve a dispute, we generally retain unsuccessful guest applications for up to 12 months after the application is closed. We may retain limited contact information for longer if the applicant has consented to future opportunities or if we have another lawful basis.

An applicant may request deletion sooner by contacting privacy@lawlipodcast.com, subject to legal exceptions.

How We Collect Information

We collect personal information in three principal ways.

5.1 Directly from you

You provide information when you:

  • subscribe to the newsletter;
  • request the LAWLI Life Assessment Workbook;
  • apply to be a guest;
  • contact us;
  • submit a sponsorship or partnership enquiry;
  • purchase a product;
  • request customer support;
  • communicate with LAWLI; or
  • participate in a recording, livestream, interview, or event.

5.2 Automatically

We and our service providers may collect technical, usage, device, and cookie information automatically when you visit or interact with the website.

5.3 From third parties

We may receive information from media platforms, social networks, analytics providers, advertising partners, payment processors, fulfilment providers, and publicly available sources.

How We Use Information and Your Choices

We use personal information for the purposes described in this policy. The applicable lawful basis may vary depending on the person, activity, and jurisdiction.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal and does not affect processing based on another lawful basis.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider and balance our interests against your rights and expectations. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests where applicable.

Guest Applications

7.1 What happens after an application

After receiving a guest application, LAWLI may:

  • review the submitted information and materials;
  • contact the applicant for clarification;
  • evaluate the proposed topic and its connection to the podcast;
  • conduct preliminary research;
  • schedule a call or meeting;
  • request additional information;
  • accept or decline the application; and
  • retain the application for future opportunities where permitted by law.

Submitting an application does not create:

  • an obligation to review or respond;
  • an obligation to invite the applicant;
  • an obligation to record or publish an episode;
  • an employment, agency, partnership, or endorsement relationship;
  • a promise of payment or other compensation; or
  • a guarantee that any submitted idea, topic, or story will be used.

7.2 Recording and publication

If an applicant is selected, LAWLI may require a separate written release covering:

  • recording;
  • editing;
  • reproduction;
  • publication;
  • distribution;
  • advertising and promotion;
  • name, image, voice, likeness, biography, and social-media references;
  • ownership and licensing of submitted materials; and
  • confidentiality, if applicable.

No applicant should assume that an application is confidential unless LAWLI confirms this in a separate written agreement.

7.3 Future seasons

We may retain an application for consideration for future seasons, related programming, livestreams, or other LAWLI opportunities. We will not retain applications indefinitely. The ordinary retention period for unsuccessful applications is described in Section 4.3.

Applicants may request deletion, correction, or restriction of their information by contacting privacy@lawlipodcast.com.

Marketing Communications

We may send newsletters, episode announcements, event notices, workbook delivery messages, product information, sponsorship communications, and other marketing communications.

8.1 Consent

Where required by applicable law, we will send marketing communications only after obtaining consent. A request for the LAWLI Life Assessment Workbook will not automatically constitute consent to unrelated marketing unless the sign-up process clearly explains that arrangement and applicable law permits it.

8.2 Unsubscribe

Every marketing email will include a clear unsubscribe mechanism. You may unsubscribe by:

  • clicking the unsubscribe link in the email;
  • contacting privacy@lawlipodcast.com; or
  • using another method identified in the communication.

We will process unsubscribe requests within the period required by applicable law and will not use an unsubscribe request as a reason to send additional promotional messages.

Some non-marketing communications may still be sent where reasonably necessary, including order confirmations, security notices, privacy updates, service messages, or responses to a direct enquiry.

We will comply with applicable email-marketing laws, including the CAN-SPAM Act in the United States and consent, transparency, and objection requirements under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and other applicable laws.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

LAWLI Podcast and its service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, software development kits, tags, and similar technologies. These technologies may be used for:

  • essential website functions;
  • remembering preferences;
  • security;
  • analytics;
  • audience measurement;
  • embedded media;
  • marketing attribution; and
  • improving website performance.

9.1 Third-party embeds

The podcast website may include or link to third-party content, including:

  • YouTube players;
  • Instagram feeds;
  • Spotify;
  • Apple Podcasts;
  • podcast hosting services;
  • social media content; and
  • other embedded media.

These third parties may place cookies or collect technical information when their content loads or when you interact with it.

We place strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies only. Non-essential technologies are not activated until you agree through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, and you can change your choice at any time. Embedded players, such as YouTube, load only after you choose to play the content; at that point those providers may set their own cookies under their own policies.

Read the LAWLI Podcast Cookie Policy

Where consent is required, non-essential cookies and similar technologies should not be activated until the relevant consent has been obtained. You may also control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling cookies may affect website functionality.

We do not sell personal information for money.

We do not currently intentionally share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or otherwise disclose it in a manner that we understand to constitute a “sale” or “sharing” under the CCPA/CPRA. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required opt-out mechanism before or when the change occurs.

Service providers may process personal information only for authorized business purposes and subject to appropriate contractual restrictions.

International Transfers

LAWLI serves a global audience and may use service providers located in countries other than the country where you live.

Where personal information is transferred from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction that restricts international transfers, we will use a lawful transfer mechanism where required, such as:

  • an adequacy decision;
  • the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses;
  • the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the Standard Contractual Clauses;
  • the UK International Data Transfer Agreement;
  • binding corporate rules;
  • an applicable certification or approved code of conduct; or
  • another lawful exception or safeguard.

Where required, we will conduct an appropriate transfer assessment and implement supplementary technical or organizational measures.

You may request further information about applicable transfer safeguards by contacting privacy@lawlipodcast.com, subject to lawful limitations.

How Long We Keep Information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, accounting, security, dispute-resolution, and recordkeeping purposes.

Retention periods may be extended where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, comply with a legal obligation, resolve a complaint, or enforce an agreement.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable legal exceptions, you may have the following rights.

13.1 GDPR and UK GDPR rights

You may have the right to:

  • obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal data;

These rights are not absolute and may be limited by law. For example, we may retain information needed to comply with legal obligations, establish or defend legal claims, protect another person’s rights, or maintain required records.

13.2 California rights under the CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident and the CCPA/CPRA applies to LAWLI, you may have the right to:

  • know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected;
  • know the purposes for which personal information is collected or used;
  • know the categories of sources from which personal information is collected;
  • know the categories of recipients to whom personal information is disclosed;
  • request deletion of personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate personal information;
  • opt out of the sale of personal information;

We do not currently sell personal information or intentionally share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may nevertheless submit an opt-out request using:

We will not require you to create an account to exercise a right, except where reasonably necessary to verify the request or provide the requested service.

13.3 Other jurisdictions

Depending on applicable law, residents of Canada, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, India, and other jurisdictions may have additional rights, including rights to:

We will assess requests under the law applicable to the person and the relevant processing activity.

Submitting a Privacy Request

Privacy requests: privacy@lawlipodcast.com

Subject line: Privacy Rights Request

Please describe:

  • your name;
  • the email address or other identifier associated with your interaction with LAWLI;
  • the right you wish to exercise;
  • the relevant website, form, order, application, or communication; and
  • any additional information that may help us locate the relevant data.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will request only information reasonably necessary for verification and will not use verification information for unrelated purposes.

We generally respond to GDPR and UK GDPR requests within one month. Where permitted, this period may be extended by up to two additional months for complex or numerous requests, and we will explain the reason for the extension within the initial one-month period.

For California requests, we generally respond within the time required by the CCPA/CPRA, including any permitted extension. Opt-out requests will be processed as soon as reasonably practicable and within applicable statutory deadlines.

There is generally no charge for a valid privacy request. We may charge a reasonable fee or refuse a request where permitted by law if it is manifestly unfounded, excessive, repetitive, or abusive.

If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may contact a data protection or privacy regulator in your jurisdiction.

Children

LAWLI Podcast is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without legally required parental consent. In jurisdictions where a higher minimum age applies for consent to online processing, we will apply the higher age where required.

If we learn that we collected personal information from a child in circumstances that require deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to LAWLI, contact privacy@lawlipodcast.com.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Safeguards may include:

  • access controls;
  • authentication procedures;
  • service-provider confidentiality obligations;
  • encryption where appropriate;
  • secure hosting and storage practices;
  • monitoring and logging;
  • incident-response procedures; and
  • personnel training.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects personal information, we will respond and provide notices as required by applicable law.

Third-Party Websites and Embedded Content

The LAWLI Podcast website may link to or embed content from:

  • Spotify;

  • YouTube;
  • Instagram;
  • podcast hosting platforms;
  • social media platforms;
  • merchandise and book platforms;
  • payment providers;
  • event or scheduling services; and
  • other third-party websites.

A link or embed does not mean that LAWLI controls the third party’s privacy practices. Third parties may collect information directly from you, use cookies, personalize content, or process information according to their own policies.

You should review the privacy policies and terms of each third-party service before using it. LAWLI is not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or practices of third-party platforms.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in:

  • our services;
