2Permission and Authorised Uses
The Guest gives the Producer permission to record the Guest's voice, image, likeness, name, statements, interview, performance, biography, and participation in the production.
The Guest authorises the Producer to reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, display, perform, transmit, stream, promote, advertise, excerpt, archive, translate, adapt, and otherwise use the appearance, in whole or in part, throughout the world and in all media now known or later developed.
Authorised uses include, without limitation: the LAWLI Podcast; YouTube; Spotify; Apple Podcasts; other podcast, video, audio or streaming platforms; LAWLI websites and related websites; LAWLI social media channels; email newsletters; press releases and media coverage; promotional materials; advertising and sponsorship materials; episode show notes and thumbnails; trailers, clips, reels and short-form content; livestreams and replay broadcasts; books, courses, presentations or other LAWLI productions; and internal archives and business records.
The Producer may use the appearance for editorial, educational, promotional, commercial, archival and informational purposes.
The Guest understands that once the appearance is published or distributed, it may be copied, shared, embedded, downloaded, reposted or otherwise used by third parties outside the Producer's control.
3Ownership and Licence
The Guest retains ownership of: the Guest's name and likeness; the Guest's pre-existing intellectual property; the Guest's original writings, photographs, recordings, documents, trademarks, logos, and other materials created or owned by the Guest before the appearance; and any other underlying materials owned by the Guest and identified in writing before recording.
The Guest grants the Producer a worldwide licence to use, reproduce, display, distribute, edit, adapt, and incorporate the Guest's appearance and any Guest-provided materials into the production and related promotional materials.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing: the licence is non-exclusive; the licence is royalty-free; the licence applies across all media now known or later developed; the licence includes the right to create excerpts, clips, trailers, captions, transcripts, thumbnails, and promotional materials; and the licence continues for as long as the Producer maintains or uses the production, subject to the withdrawal provision in Section 7.
The Producer owns the copyright in the completed and produced episode and in the Producer's original edits, arrangements, graphics, captions, transcripts, sound design, video production, and other production elements.
The Guest does not transfer ownership of the Guest's pre-existing materials to the Producer. If the Guest provides pre-existing materials for inclusion in the production, the Guest grants the Producer the licence reasonably necessary to use those materials as part of the production and its promotion.
4Editing and Editorial Control
The Producer has editorial control over the production. The Producer may, in its discretion: edit, cut, rearrange, condense, or remove portions of the recording; correct technical issues; remove material for length, clarity, style, safety, privacy, copyright, legal or editorial reasons; add introductions, transitions, captions, graphics, music, disclaimers, or other production elements; combine the appearance with other content; create excerpts or promotional clips; and decline to publish or distribute the episode at all.
The Producer will not knowingly edit the Guest's statements in a manner intended to create a materially false statement by the Guest. The Guest understands that editing may affect the order, context, length, and presentation of the conversation.
The Guest may ask the Producer to remove or edit a specific statement or portion of the appearance. The Producer will consider the request in good faith, but the final decision regarding the published edit remains with the Producer.
If the Guest withdraws consent for future use under Section 7, the Producer will stop using the appearance in new publications or promotional materials after receiving and processing the withdrawal. The Producer is not required to recall, destroy, or remove copies that have already been distributed, downloaded, published, licensed, embedded, archived, or shared by third parties.
